Lymphedema is caused by a blockage in the lymphatic system which is part of the immune and circulatory systems. Lymphedema may be primary which presents early in life or secondary resulting from lymph node removal or damage due to cancer treatment.

Treatment consists of exercise, wrapping, lymphatic massage, compression stockings or sequential pump.
