Experience the VenaSeal™ Closure System
The VenaSeal™ closure system is the only non-tumescent, non-thermal, non-sclerosant procedure that uses a proprietary medical adhesive delivered endovenously to close the vein. This unique approach eliminates the risk of nerve injury and is administered without the use of tumescent anesthesia, avoiding discomfort associated with multiple needle sticks.
The procedure is performed in our office. It usually takes one hour. You walk in, walk out and resume ALL normal activities immediately. Want to run a marathon the next day? No problem!
During this procedure you will expect some minor pain or stinging with a needle stick to numb the site where the vein to be treated is accessed. Once the area is numb, a small tube is inserted into your leg. You may feel some pressure from the placement of the catheter. The catheter will be placed in specific areas along the diseased vein to deliver small amounts of the medical adhesive. You may feel some mild sensation of pulling or tugging. Ultrasound will be used during the procedure to guide and position the catheter. After treatment, the catheter is removed and a bandage placed over the puncture site. There are no wraps and no need for compression stockings following the procedure.
There is risk of mild allergic reaction in some patients. It is recommended that patients take Ibuprofen before and after the procedure to reduce symptoms.
Venaseal is not covered by insurance companies. The cost of Venaseal is $3,500 for first treated vein and $500/additional vein. Cost varies per patient. Patients seeking Venaseal may undergo a comprehensive evaluation at no charge to see if Venaseal meets their needs.
